JUDGES

We are honored to introduce to you, the 2024 panel of judges for the LGBT Online Coming Out Film Festival. 

Coming from a wide range of areas of the film and entertainment industries, this group of professionals will bring their unique voices and perspectives to the festival.

Kari Barclay (they/them) is a writer, director, and researcher living in Cleveland, OH. Their play Can I Hold You? broke ground in queer and asexual representation and has been produced at Stanford University and the San Francisco Mime Troupe and performed and studied at colleges across the country.

 

Their play Stonewallin’ was the inaugural winner of the So.Queer Playwriting Festival in Richmond, VA and opened at Richmond Triangle Players in 2022. As a director, Kari has helmed new plays at Ars Nova (NYC), Cleveland Public Theater, MirrorBox Theater (Iowa), and Oberlin College, among other venues. They are an alum of the La MaMa International Symposium for directors, Humanity in Action Fellowship on Human Rights, and Stanford University's PhD in Theater and Performance Studies.

 

They serve as Assistant Professor of Theater at Oberlin College.

Ann Kreitman is a director, playwright, and clown based in New York City. Ann has presented work in Chicago, New York City, Iowa City, and Philadelphia and specializes in utilizing theatre to share lesbian history and inspire queer mythmaking. Their play, The Archivists, based on their experience opening an LGBTQ archive in Iowa City, is the Drama League’s 2023/24 Beatrice Terry Residency Project. 

 

Recent projects include assistant directing Snatch Adams and Tainty McCracken present: It’s That Time of the Month at Soho Rep and co-producing the 2023 Prelude Festival at the Martin Segal Theatre Center. This fall, Ann completed the Felton Postgraduate Directing Fellowship at The Bushwick Starr and WP Theater. MFA: University of Iowa.

Mauricio Martínez

Mexican actor, recording artist & International Emmy Award winner.

 

Broadway: “On Your Feet!”. Off Broadway: “SEIS” (Teatro Círculo). Regional: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Unmasked (PaperMill Playhouse), Evita (Kansas City Repertory Theater) Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “A Grand Night For Singing” (Goodspeed Opera House). Mexico City: Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”, “Saturday Night Fever”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “A View From The Bridge”, “Sweet Charity”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, among others.

 

TV: “El Vato” (NBC), “Señora Acero 2” (Telemundo), over 10 telenovelas with Televisa (Univision), Kennedy Honors, The Talk (CBS), Gershwin Prize, One Voice (PBS), Drag Race México (Paramount/MTV).

Pooya Mohseni is a multi award-winning Iranian American actor, writer, filmmaker and transgender activist. 

 

Her stage credits include an obie win in the Pulitzer winning play English (Atlantic Theater Company), The Sex Party (Menier Chocolate Factory) in London, Hamlet (Play On Shakespeare Festival), One Woman (United Solo), She,He,Me (National Queer Theater), Our Town (Pride Plays), Galatea (The WP Project), The Good Muslim (EST), White Snake (Baltimore Center Stage), and the Audible production of Chonburi Hotel & The Butterfly Club (Williamstown Theater Festival).

 

Her film and television credits include Law & Order: SVU, Big Dogs, Falling Water, Madam  Secretary, Terrifier and See You Then.

Sasha Sturtevant is a film programmer based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

He is especially passionate about horror and other genre films as well as subcultural documentaries.

 

When not engaged with film, he enjoys analog photography and introducing new people to Dungeons & Dragons
