SUBMISSIONS

ARE YOU AN LGBTQ+ FILMMAKER?

DO YOU HAVE A FILM ABOUT COMING OUT?

DO YOU WANT TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD?

Submission categories are:

-Youth creators (ages 18 and younger)

-Young adult creators (ages 19 to 29)

-Adult creators (ages 30 and older)

We highly encourage diverse voices and visions.  

We encourage short films of any genre, that focus on the coming out experience.

-There are no fees of any kind.

 

-Submission open date: April, 11, 2024.

-Submission cutoff deadline: August, 1, 2024

-We are looking for scripted films that express the LGBTQ coming out experience - it might be yours, others, or whatever you dream it to be.  No films that are just talking heads (just talking directly to the camera).

All films must be original works of the applicant and have all necessary rights.

-Films may not contain nudity, and must be no stronger than the equivalent of a PG-13 rating, as determined by the Film Festival.

-Films can be shot or created in any format or device (film, phone, video, animation, flash, etc.) but must be able to submitted digitally.  No physical films will be accepted.

-Applicants will submit their film through Filmfreeway.com (free to create account) No physical copies will be allowed.  You will also need to complete the film application below.   In the application, be sure to list your film with the same name and title as on Filmfreeway.com .  All film submissions are subject to the Filmfreeway.com terms of service.
 

-Film Ratio requirement :  (16:9 most common) resolution: high def: 720p (1280x720) or Full HD 1080p (1920x1080). Horizontal films only, no vertical films please.

-If the film incorporates copyrighted material from other sources such as music, applicant must have proof of permission. If selected, applicant will be asked to provide this proof.

Submission must include which age categories the film will be entered as. Age is determined by the age of the applicant at time of the creation of the film.
 

Age categories:
-Youth created films (ages up to, and including, 18 years old)  

-Young adult created films (ages 19 – 29)
-Adult created films (ages 30 and older)

 

-Selected applicants will be asked to also submit a trailer (if possible), a portrait, a bio, 2-3 stills from the film

-Applicant can enter more than one film, but must submit separate applications for each film

We encourage the submission of short films (10-30 minutes).  Maximum length: 2 hours.

-Applicants may submit new or previously completed films.

2024 LGBT Online Coming Out Film Festival Application

-To allow their films to be shown as part of the LGBT Online Coming Out Film Festival, an all related social media and printed materials. 

-Applicants retain all rights to their film, and are free to promote and display their film elsewhere, even during the Film Festival. 

-Applicants will provide a trailer (is possible), a headshot, a bio, a summary of their film and/or thoughts on what coming out means to them.  Links to any social media they would like us to promote themselves and their work. 

-Applicants can choose to remain anonymous to the public. Applicatn's identity must be disclosed confidentially to the Film Festival.

-The LGBT National Help Center and the LGBT Online Coming Out Film Festival reserve the right to refuse or reject entries at their sole discretion.

There are two parts of submitting.

 

1 - Fill out the application here, be sure to use the same film title you use to submit on FilmFreeway. Remember to click submit.

 

2 - Once you have completed and submitted the application formt here, click the FilmFreeway Button, create a (free submitter account) and submit you film, using the same film title used in your application.
